edited October 2017 in Benchmarks
Here's a "quick" and dirty comparison of several different benchmark results with the exact same OS and software versions.

CPU: AMD FX 8370E (4.2GHz) vs. AMD Ryzen 5 1600 (stock 3.2GHz - 3.6GHz turbo)
RAM: 16GB DDR3 1866MHz vs. 16GB DDR4 3200MHz
MoBo: ASUS 990FX Sabertooth R2.0 vs. ASUS PRIME B350-PLUS

GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 G1
SSDs: 2x Samsung 850 EVO 250GB in yol0 RAID (/home), OCZ Vertex 3 120GB (/ and /boot)
HDD: Western Digital Black 1TB

Blender uses the BMW render. Handbrake uses the file and settings from that thread. Mad Max was benched on the Very High preset. Superposition was run on the 1080p presets. Talos was benched with everything set to Ultra on the Performance tab, nothing changed in the graphics tab.

There's bending the rules and then there's violating them anally with a steak tenderizer.
